Dawn Seymour

Dawn had the privilege of being part of a Christian family for her entire life.  At the very beginning of her life, love for God was encouraged and genuine faith instilled in her by Christian parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.  At the early age of 6 she distinctly remembers receiving the Lord Jesus as her personal savior.  This life changing and challenging miracle took place at a summer Vacation Bible School.

"I was Born to Serve the Lord."

Throughout her life she knew that God had created her for a purpose; to love, worship, serve, and commit to a lifetime of Christian service.  She was never ashamed to tell others about Jesus, although she has always been a “behind the scenes” kind of person.  It was never her desire to be the hometown evangelist, but rather to live her life in a way that others would know there was something about her that was different.

She chose to attend Zion Bible Institute in New England for her education and training to serve the Lord in whatever way He wanted.  This small Pentecostal Bible School stressed the need for a servant type attitude in ministry, like Jesus requires.  It was during this three year experience that her call to Missions was deepened. At the time of her salvation she felt a nudge toward missions as this was the emphasis during the Vacation Bible School.

Dawn met her husband at this school, they graduated in May of 1975, and were married August 2, that same year. They began their first joint missionary adventure to Bethel, Alaska in June of 1975.  We spent 3 & ½ years serving the Lord in that remote area of our country.  She learned many lessons of faith and obedience during this time.  Their two oldest children were born on that mission field, and today they are serving the Lord with their families.  In 1980 her family moved to Zimbabwe, Africa and their third child was born just at the end of the Liberation War in that country.  Needless to say, again God was stretching her and teaching more of Himself and His purpose for her life. This youngest child and her husband are leaving for Burkina Faso as missionaries in the next few months.

In the past 11 years Dawn has completed a Bachelors Degree in Organizational Management and have joined together with her husband in “birthing” the Non-Profit Ministry - First Steps Ministries, Inc.

Dawn's Lord and Savior has seen her through personal crisis, ministry changes and challenges, and refocusing on the Lord’s purpose for her life.  Her desire is to see women gain wholeness in Christ and know His love for them is at times overwhelming.  Dawn's  personal verse is Isaiah 61:1-3.
