Dr. James Seymour

Dr. Seymour is the Head of the Department of Religion and Philosophy as Saint Augustine’s College in Raleigh, NC. He produces and hosts a weekly television show in the city of
Raleigh called ISSUES OF LIFE examining a number of relevant life issues from a Biblical worldview. With his wife he is the co-founder and president of a nonprofit organization called First Steps Ministries Inc.

He has published a book with Morris Publishers entitled, Black History Through Blue Eyes: The Debt The World Owes To Africa. He is the co-editor and contributing author to a recent book entitled An Interdisciplinary Look At The Twenty-First Century.

Dr. Seymour keeps a very full speaking schedule at Churches, seminars, and workshops dealing with a host of topics including Leadership Principles, Marriage and Family concerns, Racial Reconciliation. Attitude and Change in the Workplace.


James J. Seymour was born and raised in Bridgeport, Connectict as the middle of five children born to James and Ida Seymour.He is married to the former Dawn Karen DeGroat of ChesterNew York.

Dr. Seymour has spent his entire adult life involved in cross-cultural and interracial settings.  From 1976-1979 he and his wife, Dawn, worked among the Yupik Eskimo’s of Bethel, Alaska in both educational and ministerial roles.  During this time their first two children, Jessica and Aaron, were born.  In 1980 they moved to the African nation of Zimbabwe, where they spent the next 12 years as Principal of a Theogical College and Director of a Counseling Center. During the first three months of this assignment their youngest daughter, Heather, was born.
